
Amay Bisaya, sidekick to action stars, passes away
QUEZON CITY, PH — Roberto Gloria Reyes, more popularly known as 'Amay Bisaya' - famous for his roles as sidekick to lead action stars - has passed away.
He was 67 years of age.
Amay Bisaya passed away on Thursday, May 8. His wake is at the St. Peter's Chapel in Quezon City.
His cremation and interment will follow on Thursday, May 15.
Amay Bisaya is known for Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story (2011), Apoy sa Dibdib ng Samar (2006), Tondo: Libingan ng mga siga (1992), Pepeng Kuryente (1988), and Lost and Found Command: Rebels Without Because (1987).
He provided some comic relief in action-packed films in the 80s.
He also appeared in several films including Nagalit ang Patay sa Haba ng Lamay (1985), Ben Tumbling (1985), Da Best in Da West (1984), Kapitan Inggo (1984), Kenkoy (1982), Si Ako at Tres Muskiteros (1982), Stariray (1981), and Kosa (1980).
He tried his luck in politics several times - twice for governor, for senator and vice president - but had not won at least once.

"On behalf of the KAPPT Actors Guild of the Philippines, we extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to our beloved friend. May he rest in peace," the Actors Guild wrote in a statement.
Some members of the entertainment industry and friends took to social media to express their condolences.
"Rest in peace, tito," Baby Shake Rico, member of 90s afternoon youth-oriented television show That's Entertainment, wrote on Facebook.
Long-time friend from the entertainment industry and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Director Imelda Papin was one of those who came to mourn with the family on the last night of the wake on Wednesday, May 14.
"Nung araw, kami ang magkakasama nina Amay, si Alona, si Beth, kami yung mga 'loyalista,' alam din naman yan ng marami sa atin." Papin said at the wake.
'Loyalista' refers to supporters of Former President Ferdinand E. Marcos and his family.
Papin also said that former Imelda Marcos sends her condolences and will be extending financial assistance to the bereaved.
A member of the Reyes family, holding back tears, thanked Papin and Mrs. Marcos.
