A Voice That Never Fades: Tokie Ayos’ Dream at 46
BRUSSELS, Belgium — At 46, when many have long set aside childhood dreams in favor of life’s practical demands, one Filipina continues to hold tightly to hers.
Originally from Indang, Cavite, Tokie Ayos has spent years chasing a passion that refuses to dim—the dream of one day standing on the stage of The Voice.
She joined singing competitions across the province, carrying both hope and uncertainty each time she stepped up to the stage. Sometimes, she would win. Other times, she wouldn’t.
But the results were never the point.
Because for her, singing was never just about trophies or titles. It was about something deeper—it was holding on to her dreams.
It was about the feeling of being alive in front of an audience.
Married to a Dutch with 2 kids, life unfolded in all its complexity. Responsibilities grew, priorities shifted, and opportunities came and went. Yet one thing remained unchanged: her love for music.
While others might have let go of such a dream, she held on quietly and persistently.
“Singing has always been my passion. I have loved music since I was a little girl. Joining The Voice has always been a dream of mine, and I wanted to take a chance. I feel very grateful and lucky to have been given this opportunity “, said Tokie.
There is a certain courage in continuing—especially when the world subtly suggests that dreams have an expiration date. At 46, she defies that notion.
And somewhere along the way, the dream of The Voice Van Vlaanderen took root—not as a distant fantasy, but as a real possibility.
To stand on that stage would mean more than just a chance at recognition. It would be the culmination of decades of resilience, passion, and unwavering belief in her gift.
And when judge Koen Wauters turned for her, she knew her dreams do not fade with age.
And as an immigrant, this she would like to say ,
“To my fellow Filipinos, never stop believing in your dreams no matter how big or small they may seem. Life may not always be easy, especially when we are far from home, but our strength, resilience, and talent will always guide us. Keep going, keep singing, keep dreaming because one day, your moment will come. I am proud to represent you all.”
Her voice carries more than melody.
It carries a lifetime of stories.
And perhaps, one day soon, the world will finally hear them.
