MANILA — Former actor-politician Patrick Dela Rosa passed away, the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Information Office announced on social media on Monday, October 27.

"Taos-pusong nakikidalamhati ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan sa pamilya ng namayapang si Former Board Member Patrick Dela Rosa," the local government of Oriental Mindoro wrote on Facebook. It added, "Maraming salamat sa iyong mga iniwang ala-ala hindi lamang sa industriya ng pag-aartista, kundi maging sa pagbibigay-serbisyo para sa mga Mindoreño."

In a Facebook post, a nephew of the former action-drama star wrote a tribute for his uncle. "Today, I honor not just a celebrated actor and respected public servant, but a man whose kindness, love, and presence shaped my life, my uncle, Patrick dela Rosa," Joram Dela Rosa Garcia wrote on social media.

He thanked his "Uncle Patrick" for guiding him and loving him as his own. "To me, Uncle Patrick wasn’t just a star on screen, he was a light in my life. He was a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and never forgot his family. He was my second father, my hero, and my best friend," Joram said.

Patrick Dela Rosa made his mark in Philippine showbiz in the 1980s, and was known for his films Kristo (1996), Suspek (1999) and Sisingilin ko ng dugo (1990), among others. He had a brief foray into politics before deciding to move to California over two decades ago.
