Alvin Argana: A Rising Name in Belgium’s Photography Scene

BRUSSELS, Belgium — For couples preparing to say “I do,” planning a wedding involves much more than choosing the perfect dress or finding a beautiful venue. It is about bringing together countless details that make the occasion unforgettable—and choosing the right professionals to preserve those precious moments for years to come.

That was the atmosphere at the Salon du Mariage, held at Tour & Taxis in Brussels, where future brides and grooms gathered to meet wedding professionals, explore new ideas and find inspiration for their special day.

Among the exhibitors was Alvin Argana, a Brussels-based, second-generation Filipino photographer who is gradually making a name for himself in Belgium’s competitive photography scene.

Behind Argana Photography, Alvin is steadily attracting more clients, particularly those drawn to his distinctive approach to capturing weddings, corporate functions and private celebrations. His growing appeal reflects an appreciation for photography that goes beyond beautifully composed images to tell authentic, emotional stories.

With a style he describes as cinematic, moody, and natural, Alvin believes that today's generation is increasingly drawn to photographs that capture genuine emotions rather than carefully staged moments.

Asked what makes his photography appealing to clients, Alvin explains:

“Siguro po dahil ang mga photos namin very cinematic, very moody, very natural. Natural light lang po gamit namin kaya po nagugustuhan ng mga tao. Pati na-capture po namin yung talagang totoong emotions ng wedding.”

(“Perhaps it’s because our photos are very cinematic, very moody and very natural. We use only natural light, which I think people really like. We also capture the genuine emotions of the wedding.”)

For Alvin, the beauty of wedding photography lies in capturing what cannot be rehearsed—the spontaneous laughter, tears of joy, nervous excitement and heartfelt exchanges between couples, their families, and friends.

This emphasis on authenticity helps distinguish his work and may explain why more clients are discovering and appreciating his photography.

As a second-generation Filipino carving out his place in Belgium's creative industry, Alvin represents a younger generation of Filipino talent finding opportunities to showcase their skills and establish their own identity in a wider market.

And while his clientele continues to grow, the essence of his work remains simple: preserving moments that people will want to remember long after the celebration is over.

Perhaps that is what makes a photograph truly memorable. It does not simply show us what a wedding, a birthday or a celebration looked like. It reminds us of how it felt.

The flowers will fade, the music will stop, and the celebration will eventually become a memory. But a photograph has the power to bring those moments back to life—the laughter, the tears, the loving glances, and the people who made the day special.

For Alvin Argana, every photograph is more than an image. It is a story worth remembering.

Because some moments are simply too precious to be left only to memory.
