April Boy Band’s Jimmy Regino Passes Away

LOS ANGELES, California—A member of the April Boys Band, Jimmy Regino, brother of April Boy and Vingo, has passed away Friday, December 26, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Los Angeles, at the age of 57, due to complications of diabetes.

Family friends, Katie Ortiz and Tony Garcia, told the TFCN that Jimmy had been in the hospital since November 26 this year.

“They had been in the hospital for exactly one month today," they said.

"Jimmy had succumbed from pneumonia due to complications from diabetes," they said. Katie and Tony are best of friends of Jimmy and his wife, Pauline.

"Jimmy had a beautiful voice and an even more beautiful soul. Kind, humble and loved by many," they recalled, remembering Jimmy's life.

Jimmy died at 1:02PM, Friday, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital.

Based on Manila Bulletin report quoting Vingo's Facebook account, on the other hand, said "Sa lahat po ng fans ng April Boys ibinabalita ko po sa inyo na pumanaw na ang po ang kapatid ko na si Jimmy. Hindi na natin maririnig ang boses niya. (To all the fans of the Aprilboys, I want to inform you that my brother Jimmy has passed away. We will no longer hear his voice.)

"Ang hirap po nang mawalan ka ng mahal mo na kapatid. Yung pinagsamahan po namin naaalala ko hanggang ngayon. Kahapon pa ako umiiyak. Kahapon pa ako malungkot na malungkot. Hindi ko malaman kung ano ang nararamdaman ko ngayon. (It's so hard to lose a sibling you love. I remember the time we spent together until now. I was crying just yesterday. I was so sad just yesterday. I don't know how I feel now.)

Jimmy is one of the members of the Filipino musical duo April Boys. He was also a member upon the group's formation in 1993. April Boy appeared on their first album "Dugong Pilipino with a debut song "Sana'y Laging Makapiling" before leaving to become a solo artist in 1995.

In 2020, the original three-member boy band reunited for the last time after 25 years for live concerts in San Diego, California on March 14 and in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 28.

April Boy, Jimmy's older brother, died in November 29, 2020, from chronic kidney disease and acute respiratory failure.
