Banda Kawayan Pilipinas Triumphs with Gold and Grand Prix at Bratislava Festival

VIENNA, AUSTRIA —Banda Kawayan Pilipinas has brought pride to the Philippines after clinching both the Gold Band Award and the Grand Prix Prize at the 14th International Youth Music Festival in Bratislava, Slovak Republic. Their standout performance seamlessly fused tradition and innovation, featuring indigenous Filipino bamboo instruments that resonated deeply with both the international jury and the audience.

The group’s electrifying presentation not only highlighted the richness of Filipino musical heritage but also stood out for its artistry, discipline, and heart.

Following their triumph in Slovakia, the group continued their cultural mission in Austria. On July 4, they performed at the Vienna International Center, showcasing their talents before members of the international diplomatic and UN community.

The Filipino community in Vienna also welcomed them warmly, attending their performances on July 6 at John the Baptist Church at the 10th District and the Church in Floridsdorf, 21st District.

Banda Kawayan Pilipinas’ success is more than a win: it’s a celebration of Filipino identity, creativity, and cultural pride on the world stage.
