Filipino Duos Win At The 2025 Badminton World Federation Championships

PARIS - Filipino men’s doubles pair Solomon Jr. Padiz and Julius Villabrille opened their 2025 Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Championships campaign on a high note in Paris, defeating Algeria’s Koceila Mammeri and Youcef Sabri Medel in straight games, 21-15, 21-13.

The match lasted just 25 minutes, with the Filipinos maintaining control through quick rallies and timely scoring runs.

With the victory, Padiz and Villabrille move on to the Round of 32, where they are scheduled to play tomorrow, August 26, on Court 4 as Match 10 at around 4:40 p.m. Paris time at the Adidas Arena.

Earlier, Filipina shuttlers Airah Mae Nicole Albo and Eleanor Christine Inlayo also opened their campaign at the 2025 Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Championships in Paris with a commanding win, Monday, 25 August.

The pair dismissed the UAE’s Mysha Omer Khan and Taabia Khan in just 20 minutes, scoring a decisive 21-12, 21-7 victory.

The result marks a strong debut for Albo and Inlayo, their sharp coordination and attacking play overwhelming the Emirati duo.

With the victory, the Filipinas move into the Round of 32, where they will face Chinese Taipei’s Hsu Yin-Hui and Lin Jhih-Yun, Tuesday, 26 August, on Court 3, Match 8, at 3 p.m. (paris time) inside the Adidas Arena in Paris.
