The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has assured that all 38 Filipino seafarers aboard the MV Hondius have tested negative for Hantavirus and are currently undergoing quarantine and monitoring procedures in the Netherlands.

According to DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, 21 Filipino crew members are already in the Netherlands undergoing quarantine and observation, whilst the remaining 17 Filipino mariners still on board are expected to arrive in Rotterdam on 18 May to undergo testing and monitoring.

"All of them tested negative. We are not aware of anyone showing symptoms at the moment. That is for the 21 currently in the Netherlands. The 17 who are on board the vessel and arriving in Rotterdam on Monday will also undergo testing and observation," Cacdac said.

Medical personnel on board are strictly implementing health protocols whilst sailing towards Rotterdam. He assured that the Filipino mariners are being closely monitored and continue to receive the necessary medical support and assistance.

The DMW, in cooperation with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and Philippine embassy officials, is closely monitoring the condition of the Filipino mariners.
