SINGAPORE — World No. 18 Alex Eala has secured a first-round bye as the third seed at the upgraded WTA 500 Singapore Tennis Open, placing her on a potential semifinal collision course with second seed Amanda Anisimova.

The main draw, revealed on Saturday, positions the 21-year-old Filipina sensation in the bottom half. After her opening-round bye, Eala will begin her campaign against either Tatiana Prozorova or Sofia Coustoulas in the second round.

Should Eala advance past her quarter—which features potential opponents like Donna Vekić—she could set up a rematch with Anisimova. The pair last met in August 2026 at the Cincinnati Open, where Anisimova prevailed in a three-set battle.

Top seed Mirra Andreeva headlines the top half of the draw, while defending champion Elise Mertens enters as the fourth seed.

The Singapore Tennis Open runs from 21 to 27 September 2026 at the OCBC Arena. The tournament serves as Eala's final WTA 500 event before she travels to Nagoya to represent Team Philippines at the 20th Asian Games.
