[Entrepreneur speaks on turning uncertainty into opportunity amid immigration and economic challenges]

CARSON, CALIFORNIA — Filipino-American real estate entrepreneur John Singson, founder of the Singson Real Estate Company, made history as the first in his field to receive the Key to the City Award from the City of Carson in Los Angeles County. The prestigious honor highlights not only his business achievements but also his growing influence within the community.

In an interview with TFCN, the 34-year-old business leader spoke about the pressing issues facing Filipino-Americans, particularly in the areas of immigration and economic uncertainty. Rather than expressing concern, Singson urged his kababayans to view adversity as a catalyst for opportunity.

“Many of our kababayans are facing uncertain times, especially around immigration and the economy,” Singson said. “That’s why I always emphasize this: real estate is one of the smartest investments you can make—regardless of the economic climate. When times are tough, your home can become your cash cow—something you can tap into for money and leverage.”

Singson, whose company operates across multiple states including California, Oregon, New York, Nevada, Florida, and Texas, said his strategy is rooted in a mindset shaped by both experience and timing.

“In both real estate and finance, I’ve learned that uncertainty breeds opportunity. When the market feels unstable, that’s when smart investors go all in—because that’s when the best deals are made,” he explained. “A down market presents the biggest chance to buy and negotiate.”

Asked about his personal investment strategy, Singson said he keeps it simple:

“I buy real estate in any economy, as long as the numbers make sense.”

But beyond short-term gains, Singson says his long-term vision is focused on community impact and sustainability.

“My goal isn’t just to grow my own portfolio. I want to create housing and investment opportunities tailored for our community,” he said. “Because everyone deserves a chance at building real generational wealth.”

Singson comes from a lineage of public service and entrepreneurship. He is the grandson of Luis Crisologo “Chavit” Singson, a prominent businessman and longtime political figure in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, whose political career spanned five decades.

Reflecting on the honor, Singson said receiving the Key to the City is more than a personal milestone—it’s a shared victory.

“It’s a special recognition, not just for me, but for our community. This symbolizes what we can accomplish when we lead with unity,” he said. “To everyone out there striving—this honor is yours, too,” said Singson.
