Filipina Author Recounts Near Death Experience In Her Book "We Got You Back: Heaven Can Wait"

SAN FERNANDO, California—Filipina author Lourdes "Lulu" R. Mercado, who battled three different types of cancer and experienced near death, believes her new book "We Got You Back: Heaven Can Wait" will offer a heartwarming and motivational message of hope, faith, and courage for anyone facing life’s difficulties.

During the book signing event at San Fernando Masonic Lodge in San Fernando, California last December 7, 2025, Mercado told TFCN that her book is also a celebration of resilience which most Filipinos could greatly appreciate. She said it is a memoir of a Filipina, who moved to America to be with her love, started a family, bearing four children, but life had some challenges in store.

In her book, Mercado recounted how she believed she had much more to give and that her purpose in life was yet to live; her unwavering spirit and positive vibe inspired all around her to thrive. Her story, she said, would remind us to never give in, to keep pushing forward, through thick and thin. She said her journey is a testament to all: live life to the fullest, and if you fall, you can always rise.
