
Filipino Seafarers Honoured at Seafarer Social Summit
PASAY CITY, Philippines — Filipino seafarers took centre stage at the Seafarer Social Summit held on 22 June 2026 at the Museo del Galeón in Pasay City. The non-commercial event brought together active maritime crew members, industry leaders, and government stakeholders to celebrate the heritage and vital contribution of Filipino crew to global shipping and trade.
Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac delivered the opening address, highlighting the government's recognition of maritime workers and participating in the discussions focused on supporting the seafaring community.
Platinum keynote speaker Catherine Logie of OneOcean (Lloyd’s Register Group) paid tribute to the skill, professionalism, and global value of Filipino mariners. She addressed the audience during a session exploring the Philippines' position on the global maritime stage, sharing insights on leadership, mentoring, and the future of the industry.
Organised by Seafarer Social in partnership with Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC), the summit was shaped by feedback from over 1,000 active crew members. The event combined fireside panels on practical issues like financial literacy and technology with an immersive journey charting the history of Filipino seafaring from the traditional balangay to modern vessels.
