Filipina triathlete Kira Ellis wins gold in 2025 European Triathlon in Latvia
Another Filipina athlete has brought pride to the country.
Triathlete, Kira Ellis, wins gold at the 2025 European Triathlon Junior Cup – Junior Women’s Division in Riga, Latvia.
Ellis recorded one hour, five minutes and seven seconds winning the elite 750m swim, 22km bike and 5.1 km run tourney against 15 rivals from 10 countries.
National mainstay and Southeast Asian Games-bound Ellis broke free from the run leg after close gaps in the swim and bike laps beating Luca Vanderbruggen (1:05:17) of Belgium and Sarah Walter (1:05:22) of Germany.

Ellis' Latvian victory marks her return following a shin injury she suffered earlier this month.
She made the recovery after a high-performance training camp in Portugal sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
“Since I had no idea how my run would go, it was a huge surprise to clock my fastest 5km split so far. This race will always be a special memory for me. Riga, you truly have my heart, what a race. Like always, thank you to everyone for your support,” Ellis said on her Facebook post.

Ellis is a varsity athlete from Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina. She also ruled the 2024 Asia Triathlon Junior Cup to rise as one of the country’s most promising athletes for international competitions.
