BRUSSELS—The Mama Sita Foundation donated the book - ‘When Mangoes and Olives Met at the Philippine Table’ - to the Philippine Embassy in Brussels last October 8, 2025.
The book’s written by Filipino author Felice Prudente Sta. Maria and donated personally by Mama Sita Foundation President Mrs. Clara R. Lapus.

“The book is the first to document how ingredients, cooking methods, and cuisines from Asia, Europe, and the Americas converged in the Philippine archipelago from 1565 to the end of World War II,” the National Historical Commission of the Philippines said in The Philippine Embassy to Brussels statement.
Mama Sita is a Philippine brand of condiments and the products are also available abroad. It is a household name in the country and renowned for its contribution to culinary excellence.
The beautifully curated book features the fascinating story of Filipino cuisine and how it has evolved from generations to generations.
From traditional classics to innovative twists on international dishes, the book reflects the brand’s commitment to promoting the joy of cooking and the importance of sharing meals across cultures.
In a heartwarming gesture, some Filipino community leaders were treated to a sumptuous dinner, showcasing some of the famous Filipino dishes such as Pinoy Barbecue, Palabok, Chicharon, and Champorado, with Mama Sita’s authentic Filipino and organic condiments and sauces.
