Miss Universe Delegates Walk Out After Executive Confronts Miss Mexico In Bangkok

BANGKOK, Thailand—Tension escalated at the Miss Universe 2025 competition on Tuesday after Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, and several other delegates, including the reigning Miss Universe, Victoria Kjær Theilvig, walked out of a pre-pageant event. The incident followed a public confrontation involving Thai pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil, who serves as Vice President for Asia and Oceania of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) and head of the local host committee.

The event, a live-streamed sashing ceremony at the delegates' hotel, saw Mr. Itsaragrisil publicly question Miss Bosch's participation in promotional activities. He reportedly challenged her for allegedly declining to cooperate with host country sponsor shoots while agreeing to be filmed by a separate foreign television network. Video footage of the exchange indicates a heated verbal reprimand, which led to Miss Bosch departing the room, followed immediately by multiple contestants in a show of support.

The walkout highlights existing reports of internal tension within the MUO leadership, particularly a struggle between Mr. Itsaragrisil and MUO President Raul Rocha, which critics suggest is affecting the delegates and the competition environment.

Miss Universe Organization Official Statement

Following the public disturbance, the Miss Universe Organization released a statement confirming that MUO CEO Mario Búcaro is traveling to Thailand to coordinate efforts and ensure a secure professional environment. The organization affirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the competition.
