DUBAI, UAE—Consul General Ambrosio Brian F. Enciso III, who only recently assumed the Philippine Consular Post, which has jurisdiction over more than 700,000 OFWs in the UAE, concluded a productive first week at post marked by key engagements with Philippine government representatives and the Filipino community in the UAE.

His schedule began with a call on H.E. Ambassador Alfonso Ferdinand A. Ver at the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi on 24 November. The meeting allowed both officials to exchange views on ongoing PH priorities and advocacies in the UAE and reaffirm their shared commitment to deeper coordination and synergy between the Embassy and Consulate General, especially as the year transitions to 2026.

Consul General Enciso also met with Labor Attaché Atty. John Rio A. Bautista and the officers of the Migrant Workers Office in Dubai. He expressed appreciation for their front-line role in safeguarding the welfare of overseas Filipinos and discussed current challenges faced by workers across sectors in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The meeting underscored the Consulate’s intent to pursue stronger inter-office collaboration, streamline assistance mechanisms, and uplift service delivery for the Filipino community.

He later visited Trade Commissioner Vichael Angelo D. Roaring at the new office of the Philippine Trade and Investment Office–Dubai in Oud Metha. The visit highlighted the Consulate’s dedication to advancing economic diplomacy, supporting Filipino entrepreneurs in the Emirates, and promoting trade and investment opportunities that benefit both countries. Consul General Enciso conveyed his enthusiasm for working closely with PTIC-Dubai as the UAE continues to expand its role as a global hub for commerce and innovation.

Rounding off his first week, Consul General Enciso led the inauguration of the Bur Dubai branch of Sari Sari Store, a new supermarket offering Filipino food and products to the growing community in the area. In his first public appearance as Consul General, he welcomed the initiative as a sign of the vibrancy and entrepreneurial spirit of Filipinos in Dubai, reflecting the strong demand for Filipino goods and the continued expansion of community-oriented businesses.

As part of the Consulate General’s Labindalawa Upskill series, begun by former Consul General Marford M. Angeles, an AI coding Seminar was held at the Consulate General’s Rizal Hall on Friday afternoon. The Seminar featured Engr. Joeren Flores Benito of APEX Eagles Institute/Trust Asian Training Center. In his opening remarks, Consul General Enciso mentioned “this initiative reflects our commitment to create meaningful opportunities for Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, especially in areas where skills development can uplift careers, empower communities, and open new paths for growth.”

The Consulate General looks forward to further engagements in the coming weeks as Consul General Enciso begins his tenure with a clear focus on service, collaboration, and community empowerment.
