Night of Adoration At The Basilica Of The Sacred Heart Of Montmarte In Paris

PARIS, France — The Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Sacre Coeur) of Montmarte in Paris offers a continuous Eucharistic adoration day and night, a vocation that has started since 1885. Every evening after the doors close at 11 pm the prayer relay continues at the Basilica from 11 pm until 6 am led by those who have signed up for the night of adoration and are staying at the Basilica’s guesthouse.

To be there yourself and witness it is such a holy experience especially in the time of Lent and Holy Week as we are called to reflect, fast and pray. As you silently sit down on the pew inside the dimly lit Basilica, you become focused to the Blessed Sacrament where you can see, beneath the mosaic, something like a sun(the monstrance) the host that has been consecrated during the mass and is being held by two silver angels.

It is Jesus, truly present, the most precious treasure of the Basilica. As you look up into the ceiling you see the image of Jesus Chris with open arms and a light focused on His big heart that says it is open for everyone. From there you approach Him as you are, pray to Him, speak to Him or simply remain in silence and you experience the Adoration.

Upon learning about the adoration night, Malou Caguiwa was excited to try it and was overwhelmed by the experience. “Ito’y napakalaking biyaya na natuklasan ko na pwede ka palang magdasal sa magdamag dito sa Basilica ng Sacre Coeur. Masasabi ko na ito’y napakalaking opurtunidad lalo na sa mga taong nagnanais na manalangin sa mga oras ng katahimikan na naririto rin ang iyong tutulugan kaya hindi ka na matatakot na umuwi at isang napakalaking experience na maibabahagi ko sa inyo na sana maranasan nyo rin ang makapunta at makapagdasal sa Basilica ng Sacre Coeur.”

Nora Mranan, who is a vigil adorer since last year, relates how the experience strengthened her faith. “Last year nasimulan ko itong pagvivigil sa Sacre Coeur, napakalaking tulong sa akin bilang mananampalataya at dito ko nararamdaman ang presensya ni Lord dahil sa katahimikan at walang ingay. At sa katahimikan ay naririnig mo ang kanyang boses at maiaalay ang iyong oras ng tahimik.”

“Dahil sa naexperience ko sa Basilica of Sacre Coeur itong pananampalataya ko naggrow sya . Yung pagdadasal po namin ay taimtim at mararamdaman mo talaga na ang Panginoon ay nasa iyong buhay. Hinihiling po naming na ito ay mapalaganap. First time ko rin po at napakabless na bless ko po kaya salamat sa Panginoon”, said Victoria Palomares.

Everyone is welcome to this beautiful experience of nighttime adoration. You will be accommodated at the Basilica guesthouse in a dormitory box which costs 15€ per night or single room which costs 40€ per night depending on your choice and availability.
