INDIO, California — The nation's girl group, BINI, made history as the first Filipino group to play Coachella, taking over the Mojave stage with a 42-minute set that effectively brought P-pop to the American desert.

The octet—Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena—opened their performance with "Shagidi," appearing in gold outfits and traditional salakot headgear. It was a pointed nod to their heritage before shifting into the high-velocity pop production that has defined their recent rise. A mid-set costume change during "Zero Pressure" saw the group swap their regal attire for brighter festival wear, maintaining a pace that kept a large, flag-waving crowd engaged despite the midday heat.

"We are so grateful to be here to represent the Philippines on a global stage," Aiah said during a break in the set. The performance served as a live showcase for their latest material, including the debut of their new single "Blush," alongside established hits like "Salamin, Salamin" and "Pantropiko."

The set also featured moments of crowd work, with Mikha teaching the audience the "ey" hand gesture, a staple of the group's local fan culture. The Mojave tent was notably packed with members of the Filipino diaspora, many of whom had travelled specifically to witness the group’s debut at the Empire Polo Club.

This appearance follows a dominant year for the group, coming off the back of their "BINIverse" tour and several domestic chart records. Music critic Jeff Benjamin noted the set was a significant milestone for Original Pilipino Music (OPM), providing the genre with its most visible international platform to date.

BINI is scheduled for a second Coachella performance on 17 April 2026.
