CEBU—President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced a P150-million aid package for the Province of Cebu and another P75-million for San Remigio, Bogo, and Medellin.

Marcos made the announcement during a situation briefing at the Command Center in Bogo City, in his personal visit today at the epicenter of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake.

The president also announced the allocation of P20-million for all DOH hospitals and an additional P5-million for every provincial hospital to support ongoing earthquake response and medical services.

The city of Bogo, including towns of San Remigio and Sogod will also receive P20-million each as aid. An additional P10-million each will be given to Bantayan, Daanbantayan, Madridejos, Medellin, Santa Fe, Tabogon, and Tabuelan.

The Office of the President (OP) will be donating P50-million to Cebu Province.

Pres. Marcos Jr., together with Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro, DPWH Sec. Vince Dizon, Tourism Sec. Christina Frasco, and DSWD Sec. Rex Gatchalian, visited the Yolanda Housing Village in Barangay Polambato, Bogo City—one of the communities most heavily affected by the September 30 temblor.

The village, built in 2013 with 200 free housing units for Typhoon Yolanda survivors, was among the hardest hit by the quake that struck Cebu and parts of the Visayas Several units collapsed, resulting in the death of eight residents.

The President also inspected the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Vincent Ferrer, which sustained heavy damage after its tower, dormitory, and function hall collapsed during the quake.

Pres. Marcos assured the public that basic services will be restored soon and thanked volunteers for their continued support.

Meanwhile, Marcos and Gov. Baricuatro continued their site visits in Bogo City with a stop at the Cebu Provincial Hospital in the city.

Together, they personally checked on patients receiving treatment and inspected the damaged facilities.

Baricuatro called on every Cebuano to draw strength from solidarity and bayanihan in these challenging times.
