Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and Dubai Police Conduct Workshop For Community Engagement And Awareness-Building

DUBAI, UAE—The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, in partnership with the Dubai Police, successfully organized an Awareness Workshop for the Filipino Community on Saturday, 27 September 2025, at the Dubai Police Officer’s Club. The activity was conducted under the framework of the Dubai Police’s “Be the Link Initiative”, which promotes community engagement and awareness-building to strengthen cooperation between the police and the public, as well as the “Positive Spirit Initiative”, which supports community-based programmes for a safe, happy, and cohesive society.

H.E. Consul General Marford M. Angeles headed the Philippine delegation and was joined by officers and personnel from the Consulate, the Migrant Workers Office in Dubai, and other attached agencies. Dubai Police, on the other hand, was led by high ranking officers namely, Brigadier Tariq Alsuwaidi and Brigadier Dr Abdulrahman Sharaf Al Maamari. The event drew the participation of more than 150 members of the Filipino community, who had the opportunity to interact directly with Dubai Police officials and subject matter experts.

The programme featured a series of informative presentations delivered by Dubai Police officers. Officer Diana Ghadi spoke on hotline numbers and services, including Children and Women Protection; First Lieutenant Mohamed Hassan Binhammad highlighted the features of the Dubai Police application; Lieutenant Saeed Al Kendi introduced the functions of the Dubai Police Eye; Lieutenant Obaid Al Mheiri discussed Smart Police Stations (SPS); Lieutenant Saeed Ahmed Al Wari explained eCrimes and digital safety; Lieutenant Maher Jassem addressed fraud prevention; First Lieutenant Abdulla Al Abdouli outlined measures on drug crime prevention; and Sergeant Omar Muslim Osman covered traffic regulations and road safety.

Participants also engaged in an open forum, where they sought clarifications and raised questions on issues of concern to the community. A key message emphasized during the discussions was the importance of reporting crimes without fear, underscoring that safeguarding the community is a shared responsibility that requires collective vigilance and cooperation.

In his closing remarks, Consul General Angeles extended his deep appreciation to Dubai Police for their invaluable partnership and support in making the workshop possible. He likewise thanked the Filipino community for their strong presence, active engagement, and continuous cooperation with the laws and regulations of the host country. He underscored the Consulate’s continued resolve to working hand-in-hand with Dubai Police and the community in contributing to the vision of Dubai as the safest city in the world. He further encouraged attendees to serve as multipliers of knowledge by sharing the insights they had gained with their families, colleagues, and peers.

The event was a resounding success, both in educating the Filipino community on important public safety issues and in strengthening the bonds of cooperation between Filipinos and the Dubai Police authorities.
