Philippine Consulate visits injured Filipinos
The Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona has confirmed that it is coordinating with Filipino passengers injured in the bus accident in Fogars de Montclús on Sunday, October 25.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 27, the Consulate said it had contacted affected Filipinos and was coordinating with local hospitals and police authorities to monitor their condition and assess their consular assistance needs.
Consular representatives also visited Filipinos who remain hospitalised to personally check on their condition, provide support and determine what further assistance they might require.
The Consulate expressed its concern for those affected and wished the injured passengers a speedy and full recovery.
Spanish authorities are continuing to investigate the cause and circumstances of the accident. The Consulate said further updates would be provided once information had been confirmed, with due consideration for the privacy and welfare of those involved.
The Consulate's statement came after Cabral's interview with TFCN, in which he said no Philippine official had visited the injured Filipinos at that point.
As Spanish authorities continue investigating the cause of the crash, the condition of the injured Filipinos, particularly those still in hospital, remains a concern for their families and fellow passengers.
