Sofronio Vasquez to Hold Benefit Concert for Mindanao Earthquake Victims

CERRITOS, California — The Voice Season 26 Champion Sofronio Vasquez is set to headline "HERITAGE & HARMONY: A Concert for Mindanao" at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts on October 10, 2026.

The event honors Filipino American History Month while serving a vital humanitarian purpose: raising relief funds for survivors of the devastating June 2026 earthquake in Mindanao, Philippines.

Vasquez made television history as the first Filipino and first Asian male to win NBC's The Voice USA. His journey from Mindanao to the national American stage captivated millions.

This upcoming performance marks a significant moment, allowing the singer to use his global platform to give back directly to his home region. Vasquez is originally from Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental, in Northern Mindanao, Philippines, and later moved to Utica, New York.

Joining Vasquez on the marquee are prominent Filipino-American artists Garth Garcia and the vocal group Sheer Element, promising a powerful night of cultural celebration and musical collaboration.

Cerritos Mayor Lynda P. Johnson, the first Filipina to lead the city, said in her Facebook page that the concert carries a deep personal weight for the performers and the community.

"As we celebrate Filipino American History Month right here in Cerritos, this performance also carries an even deeper meaning — the concert will help raise funds for survivors of the June 2026 earthquake in Mindanao, supporting families as they work to rebuild their lives," Johnson said.

"Proceeds from the concert will be funneled into Mindanao Earthquake Disaster Relief initiatives. The funds are earmarked for immediate aid, sustainable housing, and long-term community rebuilding efforts," the city official said.

"One unforgettable voice, One proud Filipino story. One community coming together for Mindanao," she added.
