
Taekwondo Jin Secures Philippines' First Gold At SEA Games 2025
BANGKOK, Thailand—The Philippines secured its first gold medal at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand, 10 December 2025, courtesy of taekwondo jin Justin Kobe Macario.
Macario delivered a standout performance in the Men's Individual Freestyle Poomsae event, topping the competition with a score of 8.200 points. The victory marks the 23-year-old’s first individual gold medal at the regional sports showcase.

More Medals Added to the Tally
Team Philippines continued to gain momentum throughout the day, earning additional medals across various sports:
Second Gold (Swimming): The Women's 4x100m Freestyle Relay team, composed of Olympians Kayla Sanchez and Chloe Isleta, along with Heather White and Xiandi Chua, clinched the country's second gold medal. They clocked in a time of 3:44.26, beating Singapore for the top spot.

First Medal (Cycling Bronze): The country’s first medal of the 2025 Games was won earlier in the day by cyclist John Derick Farr, who claimed the bronze in the Men’s Downhill Mountain Bike event in Chonburi.

Silver and Bronze (Taekwondo): The Taekwondo Poomsae team added more hardware, winning a silver in the Men's Recognized Poomsae Team event and a bronze in the Mixed Team Freestyle Poomsae.

Additional bronzes were claimed in other events, including Sepak Takraw.
As of the evening of 10 December 2025, the Philippines' medal haul stood at two gold, two silver, and nine bronze medals.
